Project Eternity is being Kickstarted

For the past few months, people have been crying out for a kickstarter for a Planescape: Torment sequel. Chris Avellone of said Torment has been taking a “sit back and watch with interest” sort of approach towards the idea. Well, now it has come to fruition– sort of.

Project Eternity is now being kickstarted by the team that also created KOTOR, Icewind Dale and Alpha Protocol, to name but a few. They’ve been aiming to raise a not completely unreasonable $1.1M to fund a new “isometric, party-based RPG set in a new fantasy world”. Well, as I write this, they already reached that target, and are a mere $90,000 away from their Mac version being funded (and with 29 days left on the clock, it seems almost certain that this will happen).

Sadly there’s not really all that much information as to what the game will be about, but all signs point to a new take on the somewhat tired high fantasy genre. It’s still a long way off however, with an estimated release date of April 2014.
