Mountain Lion Update Brings Facebook To Game Center

The latest Mac OS 10.8.2 update sees the lacklustre Games Center application getting some love.

Specifically, it’s now able to access your Facebook account, allowing you to find your friends more easily, post scores and “like” games via your account. It’s not going to do much for people who’ve eschewed Facebook for a more tranquil lifestyle, and it doesn’t do much to address the other problems Game Center has, but at least it’s a step in the right direction.

Relevant parts of the changelog are below, you can download via the Mac App Store or from Apple’s website:

– Share scores to Facebook, Twitter, Mail, or Messages
– Facebook friends are included in Game Center friend recommendations
– Added Facebook “Like” button for games
– Challenge friends to beat your score or achievement

In other news, there’s also been a firmware update released for the MacBook Pro with Retina that improves stability, and something about a new phone?

I love that we can now share things via Facebook. It is a huge improvement, for sure. I just wish that we could message in Game Center. That is one very important feature that I have been waiting for, for a very long time. They should have added this a very long time ago.
