OS 10.8.3 Released With Newer, Slower Graphics, Boot Camp 5

After many, many beta versions, OS 10.8.3 has been released. The release features new graphics drivers, bumping Nvidia drivers to 8.10.44 304.10.65f03.

However, our OpenCL tests (using LuxMark) on a 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina have found a significant performance drop with the new drivers, with 10.8.3 having a score of 156 to 10.8.2’s 262.

However, that doesn’t necessarily paint an entire picture, as its entirely likely that we’ll see improved performance within games, as well as better compatibility– only time will tell.

The update can be downloaded through the Mac App Store or directly via the link below:

In related news, the Boot Camp Windows Support Software has been updated to 5.0.5033:

What is new in Boot Camp 5?
Boot Camp 5 adds Windows 8 (64-bit) support. Use the Boot Camp Assistant and a USB drive to install the latest Boot Camp drivers for your computer. These new drivers support both Windows 7 (64-bit) and Windows 8 (64-bit). You should download the newest drivers available any time you install Windows.

I shouldn’t be surprised if many of the included drivers have also been bumped to newer versions.
