Macs to Get Frostbite?
Joystiq is reporting that DICE, makers of Battlefield 3, are planning to port their Frostbite Engine to Mac, based on a job advertisement:
DICE is seeking a Mac OS X engineer to work with “a team focusing on bringing Frostbite to Mac.” The engineer will also “work closely with game team customers and the Frostbite team to deliver an engine as great on OS X as it is on Windows and traditional console platforms.”
The Frostbite engine has been used most notably for Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: The Run, but will also be used for future Mass Effect and Dragon Age titles. It’s possible that this could mean we’ll see previous Frostbite-based games get a Mac release, but more likely that this will merely ensure the continuation of the Dragon Age series on Macs.
