Free Torchlight, Free! Free!

Whilst we wait endlessly for Torchlight 2 to hack and slash its way onto Mac (and we’ve had no response from Runic on when that might be, which doesn’t bode well), Gog have charged into the fray, loudly decrying that all gamers must have Torchlight the first.

It’s free for everyone (you just need a registered Gog account) for the next 48 hours (until Thursday, June 20, at 12:59PM GMT):

To celebrate the beginning of our phenomenal 2013 #noDRM Summer Sale, we’re giving away the hack-and-slash masterpiece Torchlight for absolutely free to all of our users, for both Windows and Mac. You have exactly 48 hours to grab your copy of that incredibly fun and addicting action-RPG, complete with a level editor and a sensational MP3 soundtrack. No strings attached, and–of course–absolutely #NoDRM!

So it’s all in celebration of Gog’s first ever Summer sale to include Mac games, which includes 500 games at up to 85% off, all of which are DRM-free:

In the last few months, there has been a lot of outcry from gamers over DRM and how it is changing our favorite form of entertainment. If it keeps growing, it may well take a large part of the fun out of gaming. As anti-DRM crusaders, we’re very glad to see that the issue of restrictive digital rights management has become an item of public debate, and we want to make sure that our #NoDRM stance is clear. None of the games in our sale have DRM, and none of our games ever will.

Go bag yourself a free copy of Torchlight, then go bag yourself some highly discounted games whilst you can. Say no to DRM! Say yes to free Torchlight! And say thanks to Gog.com.

The sale runs until July 5.
